From Burnout to Beauty: The Story of Starrybead

I graduated from a well-known university in China and landed what everyone considered a “glamorous” job. To outsiders, it seemed I just had to type on a keyboard in a fancy office to earn a high salary.

The reality, however, was an endless “9-to-9” cycle. I was juggling multiple high-stakes projects, suffocating under impossible deadlines and a demanding workplace culture. Under this long-term, intense pressure, my mind and body both broke down. After one final all-nighter to meet a deadline, I made a decision. I quit. I needed to escape.

In the beginning, anxiety about having no income was overwhelming. I kept asking myself, “What can I do now?”

Then one day, I came across a beading video on social media. As I watched the beads transform into exquisite bracelets, necklaces, and rings, I was captivated. They were so beautiful. A thought struck me: “If I could create something this beautiful, I would be overjoyed.” And I was sure that this beauty would move others, too.

I acted immediately. I bought the tools and materials and dove headfirst into this world of “creation.” I made my first ring, my first necklace… and now, countless pieces.

The joy of creating filled my life. As my collection grew, a new idea sparked: Why not share this beauty?

I could bring these unique pieces to friends who appreciate them, or create tutorials so others with the same passion could experience the joy of making something themselves.

And so, Starrybead was born.
